Meet Carl
Yes. This is Carl. A selfie he did as part of a personal assignment. The question: When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Carl wanted to be a cowboy or more specifically, a ranch hand. This image was created to show him as his childhood hero. Please don't be fooled by the gruff face. In person, he is very approachable and eager to help with your creative vision.
Carl is a down-to-earth portrait photographer who has been in the industry for over 30 years. He is PPA certified, a Master Photographer, a Professional Photographers of America Craftsman, and an international photographic juror. Carl is one of 129 photographers world-wide to earn an ASP fellowship. He is known worldwide in the portrait industry and has numerous awards and acknowledgments for his photography and his photographic teaching. His work has been published in many books, magazines, Kodak ads, and vendor booths across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Korea. He is the author of the book, “Portraiture Unplugged” a guide to Natural Light Portraits.
Carl loves Lake Michigan and the people who choose to live near it. He enjoys the chance to artistically record history for those folks. If you want a great photographic experience and a wonderful, artistic portrait when the show is over… Carl is your photo guy.
Carl is the father of two children, and husband to a beautiful, intelligent woman. (Thank goodness the kids take after her.) He likes to spend time outdoors and loves the Great Lakes as much as the mountains of the West. He has been a large influence in youth sports programs including wrestling, football, track, baseball, softball and more. He loves to cook and entertain friends and family. You may see him and his wife on long walks with Cabela, their long-haired yellow lab.
Carl passionately studies art, psychology, and photography to ensure you the newest techniques and the best of himself.
